Designer Pritam Panda’s Paris connection

Very few designers get a chance to get invited to the

fashion capital of Paris, but Odia designerPritam Panda has been the luckiest among them since he was invited for the third time for a 10-day trip to showcase his designs at two shows along with a preview of his spring summer 2013 line. His first day of the visit saw his designs at the ‘Haute Barbie on red carpet’ event, where 28 designers from 23 countries across the globe presented their couture creations for the Barbie 2013 new looks.

Panda represented India in this event with his classic styles for Barbie’s new haute couture look. The designer presented five highly glamorous looks and the manufacturers of Barbie and visitors were impressed with the Beyoncé and the 80’s Madonna look among them. Most of the designs are in designer’s favourite black-white and nude shades, embellished with intricate Swarovski and Indian zardozi elements.

From the quaint coastal town of Balasore to displaying his collection at the haute couture store Harrods in London, fashion designer Pritam Panda has travelled a long way. The 28-year-old who owns the VKY house of fashion in Kolkata, has dressed top Bollywood celebs and international models.
