Designer Rohit Bal to make a film on gay lovers

Top fashion designer Rohit Bal will make a film featuring

two gay lovers. He says it will be a serious film and be like the Hollywood Oscar winning flick Brokeback Mountain. Bal says it will be a more realistic depiction of gay lovers than is usually seen in the Indian film industry.

Having made a mark globally with his designs, Bal’s works are worn by the likes of Uma Thurman, Cindy Crawford and Naomi Campbell. He expressed his personality traits in 2008 when he confessed his love for his model boyfriend Lalit Tehlan. The couple split amicably in 2011 and Tehlan married a woman soon after.

His sophisticated designs integrate both traditional and modern worlds. His creative gestures are well reflected in his designs. Most of the Bal's fashion shows in India, New York, Paris, and Singapore are sponsored by The Swatch Group, and he is the brand ambassador for their Omega Watches, since 2001.
