London-based Saloni Lodha, who owns a design studio there, has a clientele that includes film

stars Naomi Watts and Emma Watson. She credits ‘Made in India’ as luxury label, because it has made her a successful fashion brand on the global map. She is seeing her dream of selling a ‘Made in India’ brand in the world’s best stores come true.

She began her journey with the label Saloni in 2007 with just 10 designs. And today, her women’s collection adorns the shelves of some of the world’s leading boutiques. Adding another feather to her fashion collection, she has extended her product range to include jewellery and handbags. The exclusive part of her collection is that it is manufactured in India in collaboration with traditional weavers, tailors and embroiderers. After test-retailing her range at Mumbai-based ‘Le Mill’, she now plans to launch her collection through online platform followed by the launch of a flagship store.

Gradually, with Indian designers participating at international fashion galas and working with known foreign labels, Indian fashion has crossed the boundaries and is being admired and followed by celebrities and socialites worldwide. Citing the growing interest for branded luxury fashion in India, even foreign labels are venturing into the market with collections appealing to Indian tastes.
