Basking in the glory of the Lakme Fashion Week in Mumbai,
designer duo and sibling Siddhi and Riddhi Mapxencar aspire to take their Indo-western line to the next level. The idea for this collection came from their visit to Sri Sri Ravi Shankar’s ashram at Bangalore. Named ‘Son Shringar’, the collection reflected the fact that just as gold can not be affected by any acid, and is deemed the purest metal, and gets even better when it goes through fire, so also the soul, as it goes through the tapa of sadhana and dhyana (yoga and meditation), becomes more pure.Former Miss World runner-up and South actress Parvathy Omankuttan was the Mapxencars’ showstopper at the recent Lakme Fashion Week. She wore a blue designer kameez with full sleeves and collar neck pattern, embellished with gold work and gold broad border. The collection was for the modern independent woman who likes to wear traditional Indian silhouettes with a twist and edgy manipulations. The sister duo experimented with Indian silhouettes with modern cuts. They stayed away from conventional embroidery and instead focused on their signature textures and fabric manipulations in Indian garments.
The Mumbai LFW was the second appearance of the Mumbai-based designer sisters. The first was in 2010 when they showcased their talent in the Genext category for budding talent.
