Indian designers like Rajesh Pratap Singh, Nikasha Tawadey, Sabyasachi Mukherjee,

Raakesh Agarwal and Swapnil Shinde are keen on launching pocket-friendly jewelry lines so that their garment collection doesn’t look incomplete. Designer Swapnil Shinde plans to tie up with accessory maker to bring out his first official jewelry line by November.  He plans to make crystal belts, mixed with things that people throw away as junk. Shinde will be using Perspexand acrylic paired with traditional Maharashtrian fabrics while designing his line. He is very firm on his decision on hiring Indian craftsmen and to source all the material from India. Keeping in mind his easy pricing strategy, the line will be available at reasonable prices, which will start from `250 onwards. Shinde was prompted to start the line because of the huge demand that he got after creating the accessories for his spring/summer collection. The pieces were all picked up by models.

Likewise designer Raakesh Agarwal, the youngest designer to ever participate at a couture week to showcase his collection in Delhi, agrees that he was forced to create a jewelry line so that his garment collection doesn’t look incomplete. Agarwal’s line includes a lot of cuffs, armbands and neckpieces, though his key focus is the belt, which he feels is no longer just a practical item, but a piece of jewelry which can be worn with a dress or a sari.

Hyderabad-based designer Anand Kabrai is planning to work with pearls for his upcoming collection since people are looking for investment pieces and not something trendy or transient. Last season, he had very modern jewelry using materials like acrylic and topaz.
