Many designers are opting out of the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WIFW), being organized

in New Delhi from March 24, 2010.

Among them is Mumbai-based Narendra Kumar Ahmad who opened the season last time with Wendell Rodricks. This year he has a show in London to attend to. Rodricks won’t be around either as he has set off for a cruise.

Delhi-based designer duo Rahul and Gunjan prefer “sponsored events” like the Kolkata Fashion Week, where they won’t have to spend from their pocket. According to them participation has not been commercially viable of late in Delhi. Since the WIFW is a women’s prêt week, designer Rajiv Mohan who is best known for his menswear line will give it a miss.

And then there’s Rohit Bal who has been a part of every single fashion week so far. Apart from being busy, he wants time to do a little introspection. Above all Gudda as he is popularly known feels he can’t be part of the fashion week with people who are ‘newcomers’.
