Now that the recession is finally out of the way, Indian fashion designers are looking at Western

markets to expand their line. Since the flow of money in the once cash-strapped markets has improved, designers like J J Valaya who has opened a store in San Francisco, want to cash in. During the downturn, they were keeping in mind the cost as no one wanted to spend extra money. However, now that business is becoming better in most markets many would definitely want to invest more.

Internationally people are looking to buy luxury products which include ensembles from India. International buyers are also upbeat. Especially those from Australia and the Middle East feel India is in huge demand and now that the recession has gone down, it is great news for the luxury segment from India. Most people who have had a taste of luxury want a piece of India now.

Indian designers are participating in numerous fashion weeks. However, there’s also a feeling that it will still take some more time to reach the boom experienced during the mid-2000. At that time too India was the flavor of the season and Indian designers were feted everywhere. Whether those heady days are already on the horizon is something that quite a few are not sure about.
