The luxury rush continues in India as affluence hits higher levels and consumers are going

all out to lap up as much of luxury they can get and afford. Cashing in on this new rush, another international premium luxury brand, the UK-based Dormeuil, makers of fabrics par excellence, hit the Indian shores on its own. It recently launched a range of fabrics that costs between Rs 50 lakh to Rs 55 lakh per suit length. The Dormeuil range was launched for the Indian market comprises six types of fabrics including Vanquish II, which was used to create the world’s most expensive suit at $1,13,000 (nearly Rs 51 lakhs). With a growing number of Indian entrepreneurs and business tycoons making it to the coveted Forbes rich list, there is no limit to their aspirations. This collection seeks to cater to these very desires, according to Dormeuil Mode SAS Commercial Director Frederic Dormeuil.

Dormeuil was present in India earlier through a joint venture with Birla VXL, but later went on its own by establishing its own subsidiary in July 2008 and started its formal business operations with the launch of the Dormeuil range here. The company said it will sell its products from over 80 retail counters all over the country.


Over 167 years, Dormeuil has built a reputation as one of the finest suppliers of menswear cloth. Quintessentially English, The Collins English Dictionary definition of an anglophile as “a person having admiration for England or the English” may well have been written with premium cloth house Dormeuil in mind.
