This summer, a multi-designer fashion chain in the country,

Ensemble is hosting ethical creations by three top Sri Lankan designers K T Brown, Gihan and Shobana Cooke. Their collections are ethnically inspired couture and green values.

K T Brown is a graduate from Central Saint Martins, where world renowned designer John Galliano had trained. She works with traditional craftsmen to develop the fabric and embellishments for modern clothes. Her collection mainly showcases trousers in various textures and colors. She cleverly learns the mastery of surface design to work alongside her innovative pattern techniques of using circles as a base for garment structures. Brown’s vibrant collection supports sustainable livelihoods. The fabrics are sourced locally and all garments are exclusively made by a dedicated team at her studio in Colombo.

Gihan brings free-flowing clothes inspired by the Japanese kimono and its obi knot. Shobana Cooke’s label 1948 is a whimsical, socially conscious jewellery line with a commitment towards using sustainable materials -- like coconut shells and indigenous seeds - to adorn women. Her line uses 0.925 sterling silver along with wood, semi-precious stones and other naturally occurring materials.

The stunning clothes and jewellery designs by these three renowned Sri Lankan designers would be available at the Mumbai (Lion Gate, Kemps Corner, Bandra) and Delhi (Santushti, DLF Emporio) outlets of Ensemble.
