Italian luxury fashion house Ermenegildo Zegna known

for its range of men’s suits has shown interest in sourcing from India. The company might explore sourcing opportunities in women’s accessories and fabrics segments from India in future for the (women's wear) brand Agnona, which they plan to introduce in India soon. The company has a 51:49 joint venture with Reliance Retail in India.

After showcasing strong resistance to India’s FDI clause of 30 per cent mandatory sourcing from SMEs, global luxury makers seem to be softening their stance on the issue. Top officials of most international luxury brands such as Gucci and Louis Vuitton among others had expressed reservations against the clause when India opened up single-brand retail to foreigners.

Now apart from Zegna, British men’s wear brand Hackett too is keen to explore the possibility to develop India as a manufacturing hub for the brand’s global operations. Hackett has a JV with Madura Fashion & Lifestyle in India.
