Designer Roopa G swears by ethnic wear. It’s something she believes will never go out of
style in India. At the Bangalore Fashion Week, her collection was based on Dulhagarh, a small village in West Bengal, known for traditional hand embroideries. She incorporated traditional work from this region. Since her designs are about ethnic clothes like salwars, saris and lehengas, she uses fabrics like chiffon, net, brocade, and chanderi and works more on colors like red, green, maroon and pink. The Bangalore-based designer mainly creates designs aimed at women between 15 to 40 years. Her clothes range from party wear to wedding wear. She says she caters to the needs of every woman, while some of them prefer heavy and grand work on their saris, there are some who ask for neat and sober designs; to look elegant. From Indo-western to ethnic feminine clothes, with a lot of detailing and zardozi work, her collection is varied. She also designs bridal outfits. Her upcoming collection has a western wear range with tunics, hot pants, dresses and jumpsuits in bright colors.
