Indian designers participating in the coveted Wills

Lifestyle India Fashion Week spring/summer 2012 were able to woo European buyers to their creations. Buyers got impressed with the variety, colour and use of handmade fabrics in Indian designs. The five-day long mega event focussed more on business and their pre-event publicity and effort attracted more than 200 fashion enthusiasts including buyers from the Middle East and Europe, who placed on the spot orders. Designers are obviously a happy lot with the kind of response they got. They created designs especially keeping the visitors from the Middle East and Europe in mind, who prefer impressive designs combined with great cuts and silhouettes. The response to Indian designs has definitely opened doors for Indian designers. On their part designers too have realised the requirements of international buyers and have begun creating collections suiting their needs.

Of late a lot of Indian designers have begun taking their collections to international platforms and have begun getting recognition. Apart from getting the technique right, the Indian themed designs with hand-woven fabrics like khadi and bright colours and embroideries are getting noticed and business is promising. Collections by Indian designers like Rahul Mishra, James Ferreira and Rajesh Pratap Singh, Anupama Dayal, Nida Mahmood and Pankaj and Nidhi were loved by Europeans during the five day gala event in Delhi.
