Zara may have just opened their first store in India but the fast fashion brand is reported

to be seeing an exodus of managers. This includes senior managers in the corporate team, besides a number of newly recruited store managers, who have completed their training in Hong Kong.

Indian operations are largely focused on retail with product merchandizing being handled directly from Spain. The Indian office is headed by Sanjay Rao who was earlier financial controller at Inditex in North America and was moved to India to launch the operations here.

Fashion retailer Zara was to open its first stores in India after its parent company Inditex signed a joint venture agreement with Trent a divison of the local Tata Group. The deal sees Inditex take a 51 per cent stake in the new venture, with Trent controlling the remaining 49 per cent.

The new partnership aims to open Zara stores in New Delhi, Mumbai and other major cities this year. Inditex deputy chairman and CEO Pablo Isla said that he viewed Zara's entry into the Indian market of significant strategic importance and now India would be one of their top priorities in the Asian region.
