After Japan, FDCI has collaborated with the Dutch fashion

industry for a collection that will debut on the opening day of WIFW Spring/Summer 2013, starting October 6, 2012. Co-initiated by the FDCI foundation, HTNK Fashion recruitment and consultancy foundation and House of Denim, the programme is titled ‘Dutch Fashion Here & Now India’ (DFH&NI). Designers Suneet Varma, Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna have begun work with the Dutch fashion house.

The three-year collaboration will see two designers from The Netherlands working with their two Indian counterparts. While Varma has collaborated with Jan Taminiau, a leading couturier from the Netherlands, designer duo Rohit Gandhi-Rahul Khanna have tied up with DIED, a silk and jewellery label.

As commissioned by the Dutch government, the program is initiated to bridge continents by providing a platform for knowledge exchange, inspiration, network and opportunity development for both the Indian and Dutch fashion communities. The three-year-program provides a follow-up to conclusions made in a Fashion Mapping report on India, written in 2009 by Harmeet Bajaj, official brand ambassador of DFH&NI.
