First edition of Gurgaon Fashion Week canceled

Just a few hours before it was supposed to witness a gala opening,
the first edition of Gurgaon Fashion Week was called after participating designers pulled out of the show over differences with organisers. The fiasco did not stop there, but continued with the designers lodging a complaint against organisers Rohan Verma and others at Civil Lines police station accusing them of cheating.The designers alleged that they were promised professional services and models but when they reached the venue, nothing turned out to be as expected. That’s when they collectively decided to cancel the show and lodge a complaint. Immediately after the show got cancelled, Ayesha Dahra, Associate Director, PR and corporate communications of Kingdom of Dreams, a part of the same group as the hotel announced that due to differences between the designers and organisers, the Gurgaon Fashion Week stands cancelled.
Adding to the endless list of fashion weeks being held in India, Gurgaon Fashion Week (GFW) was scheduled to take place from April 17-20, 2014. Spread over four days, the first fashion gala boasted of presence of designers like Ritu Kumar, Surveen Chawla, Panache by Aarja and many others. With about 14-16 fashion shows on the anvil, the designer labels on the list also included Pooja and Urvika, 09 by Janhavi Gupta, Reet/Homesaaz by Kaveri Batla, Kavita Tulsiani, Umaarth by Shagun, Shaa by Shweta and Red Paws Rescue, an NGO. Besides, BMW, Elle, Kanishq Bhardwaj, Har-yarn, Rivayat bu Meera & Rohit, Budweiser, Bar-Devils, Juvalia & You, Wess (NGO) and Biba had lent their support to the event.
