Furla, the well known Italian leather goods manufacturer popularly known for its

creativity and innovative styles has announced plans to enter the Indian market. It is drawing out plans to open its first boutique at the Palladium Mall, Mumbai this autumn. According to sources, Genesis Luxury Fashion which is backed by L Capital, the private equity arm of the luxury goods maker Louis Vuitton is behind bringing Furla to India, either through a joint venture or licensing route. However, the final details of the alliance are yet to be known.

Recently, Furla launched its mono-brand openings in Rome, Paris, London, Munich, Hong Kong and Beijing. The company also introduced a new range of bags titled ‘Papermoon’. The Papermoon bags are targeted at the fashion-conscious traveler. The Candy range is playful with fun rubber finishes and vibrant shades including neon hues, primary hues, and metallics. Particularly important are the materials, just like the new watercolor crocodile/cocco acquerello, characterized by the handmade dyes that fade and mix into different colors.

Furla which was formed by the Furlanetto family in 1927 is based in Bologna, Italy. Currently, it has a distribution network in 63 countries and presence in over 1,000 sales outlets and 319 single brand boutiques, 145 of which are fully owned by the company and 174 are franchised. There are five subsidiaries which are in the US, France, Japan, Hong Kong and Korea.
