With the end of its joint venture with Raymond, Gas has chosen to be in India on its own,

under the cash-and-carry format, as Gas Jeans Private Ltd, the Indian subsidiary of Grotto SpA. Under this format, stores that are opened in India have to take the franchisee route. Gas currently has two franchisee outlets one in Mumbai and the other in Ahmedabad. By the end of three years, it plans to open 12 exclusive brand outlets. At least five of these will be in Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Ludhiana and Chandigarh. It’s available at exclusive corners at Shoppers Stop in Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Amritsar and Kapsons in Chandigarh and Ludhiana.

Gas’ new retail store in Mumbai is spread over 1,600 sq. ft. and located at Linking Road, the heart of the city’s shopping district. The design of the store is based on the Essensual concept, a mix of essential and sensual that captures and sums up the evolution of the brand philosophy, adding passion, warmth and an international flavor to the original Gas values. Gas offers high quality clothes that have a contemporary flavor but go beyond current fashions. It entered India in 2006 and its joint venture with Raymond lasted for three years. The brand targets trend-conscious men and women who are not fashion victims, cosmopolitan, international people with a young mindset who want to wear fashion that reflects their own personality, lifestyle and attitude. Grotto SpA has been designing, manufacturing and distributing men’s, women’s and children’s clothing, footwear and accessories collections under the Gas label for more than 25 years.
