GAS targets Rs 40 cr turnover in India by 2014

GAS Jeans, the premium apparel and denim brand owned by
the Grotto family of Italy since 1970, made its foray into the Indian market in 2006 through a joint venture with Raymond. Three years later, it parted ways with Raymond only to enter on its own. Now, the company is looking at achieving a revenue target of Rs 40 crores by 2014, riding on the current turnover of about Rs 15 crores, it had planned to attain this fiscal.GAS has exclusive retail outlets in Mumbai, Delhi, Ludhiana, Pune and Ahmedabad, which operate through the franchise model. During 2012, the company plans to launch another five stores in Mumbai, Chandigarh, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chennai. Moving ahead, in 2013, four more outlets would be added.
The market for jeanswear, is estimated at 90 million pairs per annum in India of which 30 per cent has been captured by the branded segment. GAS plans to establish a connect with the young customer in the premium lifestyle segment in the country. A central manufacturing unit in Romania, totally owned and controlled by the Grotto Group produces 60 per cent of GAS denim -- as well as a historical productive partner in Tunisia and a supplier that works only for this brand in Bulgaria fulfils the demand and need of the Indian market.
