Designer duo sisters Gauri and Nainika Karan have stolen the

thunder in Mumbai fashion circles after having been selected as the Lakme Grand Finale designers for LFW Summer/Resort 2011 who will showcase the much-awaited ‘Fantasy’ collection on March 15. Although Rohit Bal, who’s now on the LFW advisory panel or Aki Narula, who’s mentoring the GenNext were expected to be the chosen ones, it’s the Delhi-based designer sisters who have rocked the Mumbai fashion scene.

Bollywood celebrities such as Deepika Padukone have helped the designer duo come into the limelight having walked the ramp in the Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) 2009 in Mumbai. The two designers are well-renowned for their chic and timeless style which results in stunning collections at every ramp show. The sisters say for the fantasy holds no boundaries. That’s the beauty of their creations, interwoven with a myriad of colors that are truly unbeatable. Known for their cocktail dresses, Gauri and Nainika Karan are one of the youngest designers to showcase as the grand finale designers at the show in Mumbai.

They say their association began with the creation of this new theme last year. As young girls, they grew on fairytales. And so, this collection is an exploration into the feminine and dreamy influences that drive the many moods of all women. With its fresh, vibrant colors of nature, the summer palette provides that element of richness and a touch of idyllic. They hope that the designs will unfurl a whole new world of sparkling fantasies for women.

To be held at Grand Hyatt in Mumbai from March 11-15, the second edition of LFW is expected to be a truly unique experience that will help promote the emerging concept of resort wear globally and in India.
