Gucci’s sixth Indian store launched in Kolkata

Italian luxury label Gucci has debuted in Kolkata by opening doors to its sixth store in India.

Located at the Quest Mall, the store will host a range of Gucci products including handbags, shoes, luggage, silks, watches, jewelry, fragrances, sunglasses, and children’s collection. The other five stores are operational in Mumbai and New Delhi.

The Florence, Italy-headquartered luxury label entered India in 2006 through a franchise agreement with the Murjani Group. The company later ended the agreement to establish a joint venture with Mumbai-based Luxury Goods Retail, owned by Reena Wadhwa.

Late last year, the brand had announced it will donate 15 percent share of its total sales coming from the kids’ wear collection at the Galleria Mumbai boutique to Ekam, which is working towards gathering funds for subsidized surgeries for children with congenital heart disease. Till December ’14, Gucci will support the cause. Inspired by a sense of commitment to the world's children, the initiative is part of Gucci’s on-going philanthropic endeavours to improving access to and quality of education and healthcare for children.
