Sri Lankan clothing retailer Hameedia has tied up with Madura

Fashion & Lifestyle to sell its brands and open retail stores in the island. Hameedia, which styles itself as a menswear specialist, said it will import and distribute leading brands such as Louis Philippe, Van Heusen, Allen Solly and Peter England in Sri Lanka in a three-year deal with Madura Fashion. “Hameedia and Madura Fashion & Lifestyle will join hands and launch a concept store under the brand name Planet Fashion,” said Hameedia deputy managing director Hussain Sadique in a statement. The new store will sell all products under the Louis Philippe, Van Heusen, Allen Solly and Peter England brands. Sadique said they also plan to open a series of Peter England stores in prime locations in Colombo.

Madura, a subsidiary of the Aditya Birla Group, has been having a commercial relationship with Hameedia for the past 20 years. That is it was one of its several retailers in Sri Lanka, prior to its appointment as Madura’s local agent. Hameedia was established in 1949, since then it has achieved phenomenal growth to become one of the household names in Sri Lanka today. Hameedia is a name synonymous with high quality custom tailoring and ready-made clothes for gents.
