Tapping into creative fashion talent, a leading fashion

institute of North India announced the launch of ‘Himachal Fashion Hunt 2013’ campaign. It intends to move onto other towns of the state before picking out the ‘Designer of the Year’ and ‘Face of the Year’ winners.

On the occasion, students and designers presented a small but sleek fashion show that had woven creative designs, some of which borrowed from traditional hill motifs like the Kullu Patti, into Indian and western dresses. Right from the drawing stage, to choosing the fabric, designing the garment and presenting it on the stage was done by students of the institute. In all, six rounds of trendy dress styles were presented which included, Himachali dress collection, Lehanga collection, theme based Khadi dress collection, gown collection and tie and dye dresses collection.

Being official knowledge partners to Lakme Fashion Week, the institute also presented the collection that was put up for the year’s competition. The fashion hunt is holding the campaign at Dharamshala, Mandi and Hamirpur before announcing winners.

Set up in 2001, the Hamirpur-based fashion institute offers courses in fashion design, textile design and interior design. Ranging from one to two year diploma courses, a three year degree course is also provided for at the institute. Students also get an opportunity to visit Milan-based Instituto di Muda Burgo, who have partnered with INIFD for imparting technical skills.
