IAM's conference on retail strategies for the future

The Institute of Apparel Management (IAM), the premier fashion

and design institute of the country organised a conference on ‘Innovative Strategies for Success in Retail’, a forum for policy makers, scholars and business leaders on February 28. The idea was to share ideas on the future of retail. Scholars, policy makers and stake holders contemplated and gave insights on current trends in the dynamic world of retail, the complex issues facing it and innovative strategies to address them.

Speaking on the occasion, A Sakthivel, Chairman, AEPC, ATDC and IAM said, “This important workshop is the sequel of cumulative efforts highlighting and focussing upon the most dynamic and vibrant force of business change. We need to design our retail business for sustainable profits year-after-year. This conference has brought together the prominent industry leaders to share their insights and vision on managing retail turbulence ahead through innovative strategies for success.”

Various issues were addressed by the prominent panelists. These related to fashion and innovation for exports and retail, challenges and opportunities in the Indian retail industry, and what can be done to improve the condition. A discussion was also held on global brands in India and how creative retailing can prove to be a boon to the retail sector and how this step will change whole prospects of the existing industry.

Prominent names from the retail industry such as Kishore Biyani, Founder & MD, Future Group, Darlie Koshy, DG & CEO, IAM, Harish Chaudhry, DMS, IIT-New Delhi, Sanjeev Mohanty, MD, Benetton, Rahul Mehta, President, CMAI & Vice President, IAM shared their views on the future of retailing and strategies to grow post FDI.

IAM is a premier fashion design institutes of India, promoted by the Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) and sponsored by Ministry of Textiles, Government of India.
