ICAHT discusses measures for Indian apparel industry’s growth

The 9th International Annual Conference on Apparel

& Home Textiles (ICAHT) was organized by Okhla Garment Textile Cluster (OGTC) in Delhi. The theme for the two-day conference was ‘Creative Thinking’. The focus was on innovation in the garment sector and a list of eminent speakers from India and overseas graced the occasion and spoke on the topic.

The first days sessions and presentations were on topics like: need for specific skill drivers in garment industry, thinking holistically and creatively about each of the four parts of the business process to enjoy competitive success; manufacturing as competitiveness enhancement strategy for unparalleled market growth; creating an effective skill development ecosystem for textile and apparel industry through various government policies and private sector initiatives; using fashion trends to come out with a winning model; competitiveness in the Indian apparel industry; rapid response supply chain to unlock the hidden potential; trends and technologies in supply chains; product development; manufacturing retailing and sustainability among other.

The second day touched topics such as changing for better or worse-choice is ours, 3G train the trainer concept and system implementation. Eight workshops session followed the morning presentations. The 10th International Conference on Apparel & Home Textiles will be held at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi September 12-13, 2014.
