IIGF generates revenues worth Rs 1,000 cr

The 51st India International Garment Fair (IIGF) organized

by AEPC received a buoyant response with business transactions worth Rs 1,000 crores. Commenting on the response, A Sakthivel, Chairman, AEPC said, “The response to the 51st IIGF had been very good. 975 buyers and 1,399 buying agents visited IIGF- totaling it to be 2,374. This IIGF has been successful in getting business worth Rs 1,000 crores and business worth same amount is in the pipeline.”

He pointed out that the event served as a much needed platform and an opportunity for a large number of exhibitors and buyers from across the globe to interact under one roof. It definitely provided the much needed fillip to Indian textile exports. IIGF is a unique fair that brings together the best in Indian apparel and accessories, fabrics– all under one roof. The associations like AEMA, GEA, CMAI and GEAR also participated in the 51st IIGF.

IIGF was inaugurated by K S Rao, Minister of Textiles. Rao in his inaugural address had emphasized on skill development and training to be the thrust areas. He also advocated for the flexibility in labour laws so as to optimize the output. He also assured of increasing the MDA and MAI assistance if needed.

Many companies and buyers from across the world visited the event. One to one meetings and matching of buyers was organized for on the spot business generation. Every day there were fashion shows for the promotion of products displayed.
