Indian designers Sabyasachi Mukherjee,

Agnimitra Paul, Wendell Rodricks, Manish Malhotra and Rocky S, among others are expected to participate at an event to be held at Tahrir Square in Cairo from April 8, 2013, it will feature world-record 2.5 km ramp show. An NGO along with top Egyptian designers and models will be organising a fashion show at the historic Tahrir Square that is expected to set a world record for the longest ever ramp.

The Egyptian government has cleared the proposal for the show, which will be part of the celebrations to mark the coming of age of the country, following the 2011 revolution that ousted President Hosni Mubarak. The event is being organised by Indian Bangla Film Academy (an NGO which works to promote films and culture across the border), in association with the Egyptian Tourism Department, which is sponsoring the event along with a few travel companies. The organisers are aiming to create the world’s longest ramp and representatives of the Guinness Book of World Records would be present to verify the record.

The organisers have sent out invitations to prominent Indian designers after receiving permission for the show and are awaiting their confirmations. Top designers from Egypt will also take part in the event, and their models will also sport clothes created by the Indian designers.
