Indian fashion designers who were looking forward to

participating in the Indian Premier London Fashion Week (IPLFW) are miffed. The event which was to be held from April 9 to April 14 has been rescheduled because some designers failed to get their visas on time. Out of 37 participants, 11 still haven’t got their visas.

Designer Lina Tipnis who was among those eager to show their collections to buyers in London says she doesn’t mind the reshuffled dates but wishes she knew of it before she packed her bags and got all ready. Another participant Babita Malkani was never informed of the change. Pria Kataria Puri has withdrawn from the event altogether.

In fact, the dates clash with Easter, when the entire United Kingdom is on holiday from April 1 to April 15. So the buyers attending would not be present to attend the event. This would have disappointed many designers who were eager to show their collections to a discerning and influential buyers, who would be in a position to appreciate the finer nuances of the display.

However, the event managers say they will come up with the new dates soon and that they are confident most designers will attend as promised and make the show a success.
