Italian luxury label Frette enters India

Leading Italian luxury linen brand Frette has entered Indian retail

space with the opening of its first store in Mumbai. It is eyeing a revenue of $20 million from India in three years. The Milan-based company has entered through the franchise route.

"Our expectation from here is huge. A revenue of $20 million (Rs 98 crores) in three years is a good number," Frette Worldwide Sales Director, Home Division, Riccardo Ronconi sats. He said the company has signed a licensing agreement with global company Elite Lifestyle for the franchise in India. And even though at present it has gone through the franchisee route, the company is open to investments in future. As for their retail expansion plans, Frette would launch eight to nine stores in the next three years primarily in the metros followed by Tier II markets. The Italian brand has launched a select range of bed linen, baby wear, bags and perfumes and plans to offer an India-dedicated range soon.

On the sourcing front, the company has already begun sourcing locally for the hospitality division and in future, it may look at sourcing locally for home division too.
