Kalyan Silks to open more stores in Tamil Nadu

After establishing a strong presence in Kerala, Kalyan

Silks is now exploring possibilities of expanding into the Tamil Nadu market by opening more stores in the state. Kalyan Silks’ first silk sari showroom in the state and 15th outlet was inaugurated at Erode recently.

Spanning over 50,000 square feet and spread across four floors, the new store collections would include men’s, women’s and kids’ wear. T P Seetharaman, Executive Director, Kalyan Silks says the company has plans to open five more showrooms at Salem, Vellore, Thanjavur, Kumbakonam and Coimbatore over the next 12 to 18 months. The estimated outlay on these showrooms is Rs 150 crores.

The two new showrooms at Thiruvananthapuram and Abu Dhabi would be operationalised in the next two months. The Abu Dhabi branch will be inaugurated on October 24. Apart from Tamil Nadu, Kalyan Silks is also eyeing international markets such as Muscat, Singapore and Malaysia, where it plans to have presence in the next 12 months. Kalyan Silks also aims to register a turnover of Rs 750 crores this year, against Rs 650 crores last year.
