Karan Johar, Varun Bahl team up

Filmmaker Karan Johar has designed a line of shoes in collaboration with designer Varun Bahl.

The brightly colored loafers will debut at the second Van Heusen India Men’s Week to be held from August 27 to 29 in New Delhi. The footwear has crystals studded here and there as a finishing touch. In time the line will include socks, underwear and a complete wardrobe for the male. Karan Johar’s designer friend Manish Malhotra too will showcase his line of menswear. In fact, in the past Johar has presented his designs on the ramp which saw the debut of Shah Rukh’s wife Gauri, who catwalked with her husband.

Meanwhile, the Van Heusen India Men’s Week has caught on in a big way. It has dispelled doubts whether a fashion week exclusively for men could sustain itself and generate business. If the line-up for the upcoming second edition is anything to go by, it’s apparent that the concept has gone down well with the industry.

The week will see 17 designers showcase the best of their menswear offerings on the ramp. While Mumbai-based designer Narendra Kumar Ahmed and Bengaluru-based Manoviraj Khosla both make a comeback this season, upcoming designers like Raj Gayani, Rohit and Abhishek and Troy Costa too have been given a place.
