Kareena’s the new Lakme girl

With 13 brands already in her kitty, Bollywood star Kareena Kapoor is set to be the new face

of Lakme Absolute. Lakme Absolute is a high-performance long wear make-up range which stands for 16 hours with no touch-up needed in between. Making at least Rs 3 crores a year from each brand, Kareena hawks everything from laptops to shoes and telecom. She comes right after the Khans and Ranbir in the list of endorsements. Even among cricketers she comes only after Sachin Tendulkar and Dhoni. Kareena has been a regular at the fashion week organized by Lakme India. Besides, the actress will be part of the brand’s campaign and unveil the Absolute looks at the Lakmé Grand Finale by Manish Malhotra at Lakmé Fashion Week winter/festive 2011, which is being held from August 16 to 21.

The name Lakmé is of Sanskrit origin, meaning born in milk. For Lakme, using signature faces is nothing new. Some Lakme girls over the years have been Aishwarya Rai, Katrina Kaif, Indrani Dasgupta, Shivani Kapur, Yana Gupta. Kareena Kapoor is probably the first ever top Bollywood actress to be the face of Lakme. Even Katrina Kaif was a model when she was a Lakme girl. Aishwarya Rai was signed on before she was crowned Miss World.
