After raising Rs 90 crores funds from Reliance Private Equity last year, Kolkata-based
footwear chain Khadim’s run by Siddhartha Roy Burman, plans to expand its retail network across India. Today, it enjoys a presence in 21 states with 650 outlets including 70 in Kolkata, and a turnover of Rs 425 crores registered in FY2013.The brand is popular among the price-conscious consumers because of the quality footwear offered at affordable prices for the entire family. Now, after fund raising, Khadim’s is eyeing a revenue target of Rs 1,000 crores by 2017 along with store expansion pushing the number of stores from 650 to 1,000. The company plans to open almost 90 stores annually, of which about 35 will be company-owned while the rest will be franchised as exclusive branded outlets.
Apart from footwear, for which Khadim’s has around 10 sub-brands in every price bracket, the company sells leather accessories such as women’s purses, men’s wallets and school bags. The company also plans to focus on expanding this segment and target the youth while focusing on the middle and upper-middle class markets.
