Kidswear gains focus

Children have never had it so good before as top designers and brands are going all out too woo them.

Recently, designers like Anuj Sharma and Anamika Khanna came up with clothes for children in their signature styles. This line is not confined to any particular size. The cotton fabric and the loose drapes are comfortable for tender skins and are priced between Rs 3,000 to Rs 4,000.

Meanwhile, Italian brand Chicco too has come to India with a staggering variety of styles and designs. Designer Sabyasachi Mukerjee who plans to open his eponymous chain of stores next month, will also stock baby bridal wear from Diwali this year. Muse, a high-end store in Kala Ghoda that used to stock a wide variety of kidswear until it shut down a couple of months ago is making a comeback. The store is undergoing a revamp and will be ready to open its doors by September this year. It’s expected that the revamped store will stock clothes from Paracas by Antoinette, who is reputed to make the best baby designer wear in the country.

Another prominent name is Small Shop by Jason and Anshu who make special clothes for children. Prices start at Rs 5,000 onwards, these clothes are based on nature and are multi-functional. In fact, one dress can even be turned into an educational board game.
