Laguna Clothing, a 50:50 joint venture between the $300-million CIEL Group Company (Mauritius)
and $200-million Gruppo Tessile Monti SPA (Italy) — has invested Rs 200 million on its second apparel production plant in Bangalore, spread across an area of 110,000 sq. ft. Laguna has a capacity to manufacture 15,000 high-end formal shirts per day and its production plant is likely to employ over 3,000 workers by the time the factory reaches maturity in 2011.The joint venture firm already has an apparel producing plant in Jigni, Bangalore, with a capacity to manufacture 3,000 shirts per day. It supplies premium shirts to high-end brands such as Banana Republic, Charles Tyrwhitt and Saks Fifth Avenue. Laguna works closely with customers in developing shirt collections.
