Paris-based shoe designer Christian Louboutin,

who recently opened his first store in India, has found followers for his famous red soled shoes here. Louboutin entered the Indian market by opening his first store in New Delhi, on February 9, this year. The store has shoes for women, men and also has handbags. What's more the second store is going to open its doors in probably six months time. Talking to the media at a recent event, Christian Louboutin said, “I love India and I came here in 1978. And there were lot of my clients who used to come to London to buy shoes and they asked me open one store in India. I think from business point of view it made sense to open a store here. We opened one store in New Delhi recently and it is doing pretty good.”

The designer’s clients include Hollywood A-listers like Jennifer Lopez, Madonna, Gwyneth Paltrow and Kim Kardashian, Sarah Jessica Parker. He also pointed out that black colored shoes are not a hit in India as different colors have different meanings in different countries. “I think every market has lot of things in common and at the same time every market has lot of different things. Like in India, there are lot of traditions and there are some rules that they follow. Also, different colors have different meaning in different countries. In Delhi, black (colour shoe) is least selling,” he said.

Louboutin owns 51 stores across the globe and he claims that his aim was to make a woman look sexy and beautiful and make a woman’s legs look as long as he could, revived stilettos in the luxury segment with heels of 4.72 inches and above.
