Super specialty in fashion is an urgent need, feels designer Neeta Lulla. With over two decades

of designing, she feels the time is right to introduce students at fashion institutes like National Institute of Fashion Technology and National Institute of Design to this concept. She cites the example of cab drivers, many of whom are women, an innovation which was unknown even five years back, and goes on to say that fashion needs such super specialization. Her aim is to dispel the notion that designing is all that a fashion designer does. Instead she wants concepts like patterns and illustrations given their due.

After designing for 350 films and more than two decades of designing for Bollywood, besides feeding her own couture fashion label, designer Neeta Lulla is now out to introduce aspiring fashioners to super specialty. Lulla is currently designing for the Rajnikanth starrer Rana. It was winning the National Award for designing Sridevi’s costumes in Yash Chopra’s blockbuster film, Lamha that brought Lulla into limelight, transforming her into the most sought after designer in the film industry. The Lulla flagship store was launched in Mumbai, India in 2005 to cater to her growing clientele and creative needs. Diffusion, luxury prêt, trousseau consultancy and bridals is what the Neeta Lulla label caters to.
