Maneka Gandhi has planned a carpet sale, Floored by

Art, to raise funds for her NGO, People for Animals. Many leading names and fashion designers like Ritu Kumar, Sabyasachi Mukherjee, Manish Arora, SH Raza and Manjit Bawa have been roped in to create limited edition carpets. The sale has been conceptualized by Gandhi along with Garima Jain and is an initiative of Sunil Sethi Design Alliance. Maneka has hosted pottery shows, exhibitions and shawls and T-shirts sales over the last decade. Set up in 1992, People for Animals have grown to become the biggest organization of its kind in Asia. It is currently involved in activities ranging from rescuing circus animals to banning horse carriages.


People for Animals is an all-volunteer, not-for-profit animal protection organization dedicated to preventing intentional or unintentional harm to all animals in the community with a focus on dogs and cats. Its goal is to enhance pet quality of life and reduce the number of healthy pets euthanized in shelters. All members are unpaid volunteers dedicated to ending the tragedy of pet overpopulation. They work for the welfare of animals by creating awareness among all sections of people by showing them the cruelties done to animals. Awareness camps are organized in schools, colleges and public places.
