For the first time a Mumbai designer would bring the

curtains down at Delhi Couture Week to be held from July 31 till August 4, 2013. The organisers Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) have chosen designer Manish Malhotra to do the honours. The designer would be opening a huge store in Delhi soon in a vintage haveli and it’s going to be one of the biggest stores in the country.

Designer’s couture week collection has derived inspiration from architecture across the world — Indian, Pakistani and vintage buildings. He has focused on architectural embroidery and used a lot of silver instead of gold along with Kashmiri threadwork. He has also taken inspiration from images of fittings and clothes being made and brides getting ready, which will all reflect in his presentation. The collection will recreate 1950s glam era.
