Masaba Gupta to launch a store in Kolkata

label, Masaba Gupta, plans to enter the eastern Indian market by opening a franchisee store in Kolkata. Announcing her plans on social networking platform Twitter, she said, “Thrilled to announce that our first ever franchise store (is) coming up in Kolkata in December! Too excited.”

After being applauded for her young and quirky designs for the Satya Paul label, the designer is looking at establishing her presence in the European markets. Apart from trying to turn things around at the Satya Paul label so that it appeals to the younger generation, Masaba also plans to introduce cutlery, watches, shoes, bags under her own Masaba brand, launched in 2009.

The designer recently opened the Wills Lifestyle Fashion Week, Spring/Summer 2014 while unveiling a designer version of Tata Nano car. Inspired by her quirky yet chic pop prints, the small car designed by Gupta is part of a new ad campaign that celebrates the spirit of young achievers. Young Bollywood beauty and Gupta’s friend, Alia Bhatt was the celebrity showstopper of the show. Wearing silk printed pink ensemble with black and white three-fourth sleeves matched with huge pink tie up heels, Bhatt sashayed down the ramp flaunting her cute look.
