Masaba Gupta to unveil affordable line

With fake mass market production of her exclusive and quirky designs flying off the shelves, without her approval,

young designer Masaba Gupta has decided to create an affordable line of Indian wear. It’s aimed at the fashion conscious women, who cannot spend an exorbitant amount on designer wear. The collection would be also for college students, who like flaunting designer wear but wish for something exclusive and easy on budget. The line would include funky accessories like socks, I-pad covers and ganjis. The new range will be launched online and also through third-party e-tailers. Keeping the price-points from Rs 400 to Rs 8,000, she aims to keep the mass retailing of duplicates of her designs, at bay.

Known for her quirky fashion sense, Gupta was recently roped in by Women’s International Cricket League (WICL) to create women’s cricket apparel. Her design label Masaba will be associated with WICL as the official sporting apparel design partner. Gupta is also the Fashion Director of luxury brand Satya Paul.
