Megamart apparel retail store under the Arvind Group plans to open 40 more outlets across India, including 10 in Tamil Nadu.
The new Megamart stores will offer a wide range of international and domestic brands of men’s wear, women’s wear, kids wear, home décor, luggage and accessories. The new stores will come up at Vellore, Kollatur (Chennai), Coimbatore, Hosur, Tuticorin, Erode, Pondy, Nagarcoil, Tiruvallur and Dindigul.
Megamart retails brands like Ruggers, Skinn, Elitus, Donuts, Karigari, Mew Casa, Auburn Hill, Bay Island, Colt, Leisha and Edge under its belt. The parent company has set its vision of becoming a one billion dollars apparel company over the next five years.
Megamart began factory outlets 15 years ago selling brands such as Arrow, Flying Machine, Newport and Excalibur, which were either owned by Arvind or for which it had India rights. After acquiring India operations of three major international apparel brands Debenhams, Next and Nautica, Arvind had signaled its strategy to grow big in the organised apparel market. Arvind Lifestyle Brands, subsidiary of Arvind, which already has an impressive brand line-up comprising Tommy Hilfiger, US Polo Assn, Elle, Geoffrey Beene, Arrow among others, recently partnered with Calvin Klein, to handle its India business.
The company has a presence in 950 retail stores. Around 200 of these are Megamart, 130 are Arvind store and the rest are spread across our other brands. Plans are in the pipeline to open 200-250 stores every year in metros and Tier II, III and IV cities.
