Bangalore-based designer Michelle Salins will be representing India at the 12th annual Miami

International Fashion Week this year. Earlier, top designers like Sabyasachi Mukherjee, Manish Arora and Rina Dhaka were some of the prominent Indian names to participate at MIFW.

Salins’s collection, ‘The Jewel Tones of India’, will be showcased on March 20 at Miami’s trendy Wynwood art district. The collection comprises silks in satins, velvets, georgettes and chiffons. Salins has used embellishments like Swarovski crystals, Indian hand embroidery like zardosi and sequins and beads to add glamour to her sophisticated and elegant, red carpet gowns and dresses. The collection also has cocktail footwear designed by her for the first time. Bringing in her signature butterfly motif to the collection, she adds a dash of fun, femininity and sensuality to her garments.

Salins has done several runway shows associated with brands like The Taj, Audi and Pinky Vodka. After three years in the fashion world, she is known for her silhouettes and color coordination. Having worked with silk weavers in south India, she understands the intricate use of fabrics and textures.

Miami International Fashion Week is the largest international fashion event held in the US. For the past 12 years it has been bringing the best of international fashion, beauty and art to the forefront of the American fashion scene.
