Designer Amit Aggarwal is the latest name to join the growing

list of Indian designers, whose designs are being chosen by international celebs and socialites. Australian singer Dannii Minogue has chosen Aggarwal’s silk chiffon dress moulded with fine hand cut faux metal gold strips to wear on the cover of her new album ‘This is It: The Very Best Of’.

The singer chose the ensemble from designer’s Fall/Winter 2013 collection that is retailing currently at Aashni+Co in the UK, which also retails designs of other Indian designers like Manish Malhotra, Gauri and Nainika, Rahul Mishra and Sabyasachi.

Increasing number of celebrities are taking fascination to clothes designed by Indian designers. Last year, it started with Oprah Winfrey, who got master couturier Tarun Tahiliani to create a sari for her. Burlesque star Dita Von Teese made her maiden appearance in India at New Delhi’s The Leela Palace in a figure hugging black lace saree designed by Shivan and Narresh. Then Judi Dench wore her favourite designer duo, Abu-Sandeep’s creation to last year’s London Evening Standard Theatre Awards.

And when British supermodel Naomi Campbell decided to throw a traditional Indian party for her billionaire boyfriend, Vladimir Doronin’s 50th birthday in Jodhpur’s Mehrangarh Fort celebrating the ‘Royal India’ theme, she wore two Manish Malhotra creations. She was joined by her close friends, Kate Moss, Demi Moore and Karolina Kurkova later in the evening, all three dazzling in ethnic Indian dresses styled by the designer. Last but not the least, it was Paris Hilton, who opened the show for Falguni and Shane at the Indian Resort Fashion Week 2012, wore a glittering gown reflecting colours of the sea and also at this year’s Canne’s.
