Monopoly, a new fashion boutique for haute-couture clothing

and accessories has been opened by Abhishek Dutta, a budding young fashion designer in Kolkata. This exclusive boutique will showcase clothes and accessories of well-renowned Indian designers including Dutta’s own label. Located at the heart of the newer city, Salt Lake, this store gives its well-heeled clientele an aesthetic diversity in garment designing while focusing on indo- western silhouettes with different design philosophies.

The designer collection will feature the works of some of India’s most talented people such as Narendra Kumar, Zubair Kirmani, Samant Chauhan, Anupam Dayal, Nikasha Tawadey and Anuj Sharma from all parts of the country while Kolkata will be represented by Kallol Datta and Abhishek himself. The design studio will promote the latest prêt, haute-couture, casual and diffusion collections for both men and women of all these designers.

The look of the store is vintage inspired from the colonial British buildings built in Kolkata during the East India Company’s rule. In keeping with the mood, a real hand-pulled rickshaw has been installed against what looks like a cracked wall of an old building with a window projecting out of the wall as the backdrop, creating an old-world charm about the place. With a wooden floor and framework and parts of the store having been molded with leather castings, all adds to its aesthetic appeal while enhancing the actual browsing and shopping experience.
