Mumbai Fashion Week date controversy

Will the hi-profile Mumbai Fashion Week scheduled to take

place early next year get pushed to another venue or date because Union minister Vilasrao Deshmukh’s son is getting married at the same venue? Apparently, the minister has requested Mukesh Ambani to push forward the dates of Mumbai Fashion Week as son Riteish’s wedding is at the same venue. While both are ensuring that the events are managed with perfection without leaving any stone unturned, the same venue and close clash of dates may create a tussle between the leading personalities.

Mumbai Fashion Week’s Summer/Resort 2012 event organised by IMG Worldwide, which entered into a joint venture with RIL last year is scheduled from March 1-5, 2012 and preparations will kick off in February itself. Though the dates and other details of the wedding are kept under wraps, both events are scheduled to take place around the same time, at the same suburban five star hotel, so executives from both parties are constantly doing checking up to plan the respective dos.

Sources say, the pressure to change the dates of fashion event was immense, but Ambani’s executives haven’t budged from their plans and have decided to go ahead with the original schedule.
