Mumbai to get Dior store

Christian Dior, one of the best known luxury fashion brands in the world, is all set to open its first store

in Mumbai’s Taj Mahal Palace & Towers soon. This is Dior’s third store in India and the first outside Delhi. The first Dior store in India was opened in Oberoi hotel in 2006. Last year, the brand opened its flagship 3,500 sq ft store at DLF Emporio, New Delhi’s swanky luxury mall.

In Mumbai, the French fashion house will be occupying the 1,200 sq ft space vacated by Fendi at Taj’s luxury corridor. The French fashion house is a part of the Arnault Group that also controls the euro12-billion luxury goods conglomerate LVMH Group. With its Mumbai plans well in place, Dior seems to be moving forward with its expansion plans in India. Sidney Toledano, president and CEO of the Christian Dior Group, had said last year underlined Dior’s bullishness on India despite the global downturn that hit the luxury segment hard. He had also mentioned then that Mumbai and Bangalore are possible destinations for Dior.
