An exhibition of Japanese textiles consisting of a

wide range of fabrics like natural fibres, cotton, linen, wool, synthetics and blends and accessories is being organised by Japan Fashion Week (JFW) on January 30 and 31, 2013 at Sofitel Hotel in Mumbai. There would also be a small area presenting JFW trends highlighting Japanese fabrics.

All the fabrics presented by five exhibitors alongside nine companies in this exhibition are designed and manufactured in Japan, and it is an initiative to bridge gap between India and Japan in terms of fashion business exchange.

It may be recalled that last year, the Clothing Manufacturers Association of India (CMAI) and the Japan Fashion Week Organization had signed an MoU to form the ‘Japan India Fashion Trade Forum’ (JIFTF). The MoU was signed by Rahul Mehta, President, CMAI, and Hitoshi Okamoto, President, Textile Division, Itochu Corporation.

The Indian board of the forum consists of leading members of the textile industry, representing various sectors of the industry, including exports, retail, import, trade, research, and media. Similarly, the Japanese side consists of leaders from various trade bodies playing an important role in the furthering of trade between the two countries.
