Myntra gets Bharti Wal-Mart’s VP on board

Bangalore-based e-commerce firm Myntra has appointed

Ganesh Subramanian as its chief merchandising officer from Bharti Wal-Mart where he was vice president and general merchandising manager (Softlines ). An alumnus of Institute of Supply Management, USA, he has more than two decades of experience in retail and fashion industry. Subramanian also worked with Reliance Trends and Tommy Hilfiger, Indus League Clothing and Arvind Brands before.

A couple of months back Myntra raised $20 million in a series C funding, led by Tiger Global. This took its total funding to around $40 million or more (including angel funding). Last year, Myntra repositioned itself as a lifestyle portal, following consumer demand for more items. Till then, the company had mostly focused on customisation – offering gifts and merchandise such as T-shirts, mugs, greeting cards, calendars, key chains and diaries, which could be personalised with photographs. Myntra also tied up with Fabindia recently to retail 26 product categories from Fabindia via its online platform .

Myntra claims to get 2,00,000 daily visitors to the site. The company has already reached out to 10,000 zip codes across the country and is constantly expanding its network to support the growing demand. Myntra is targeting Rs 500 crores plus in revenues in FY12-13.
