Fashion designer Nachiket Barve is among the

select few Indian designers who is gearing up to show his creations at the Festival of India in Britain. His collection, ‘Caravan’ inspired by travel will have glimpses of a nomadic traveler. The designer will showcase his designs on the international runway in mid-April.

His work will highlight prominent Indian techniques like tie-and-dye and appliques among others. Even though these techniques are common among Indian designers, he feels they would wow London, since people there are barely aware of them. Though he started his career as a GenNext designer in 2007 at the Lakme Fashion Week, Nachiket Barve has come a long way as he currently stands as one of the best hot-shot young designers of the country. His clientele includes names like Aishwarya Rai, Sonali Bendre, Sonam Kapoor and high profile corporate head honchos.

A post-graduate in Apparel and Accessory Design, from the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, he was awarded a scholarship by the French government to study at the venerable Ecole Nationale Superieur des Arts Decoratifs (ENSAD) in Paris. There he worked with the master craftsmen of haute couture. He has trained with Michael Kors at CELINE, a part of LVMH, luxury conglomerate, in Paris. He has also worked with Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla and textile designer Neeru Kumar.
