Pet of Hollywood’s red carpet events, designer Naeem Khan is scheduled to showcase his
collections at Lakmé Fashion Week (LFW) Summer/Resort 2013 to be held in Mumbai this March. The organisers are leaving no stone unturned to bring back the iconic status of Lakme Fashion Week. With management changes and little focus, the event had gradually lost its loyal audience and designers. While last season the event faced a lot of criticism over the choice of designers and overall event management, this time round the organisers expect Khan’s clout, along with designer Namrata Joshipura’s name will herald in success and pack the front rows.
Born in India, Khan’s knowledge of textiles comes from his grandfather and father, both well-known for designing intricate clothing for royal families. “I am excited to showcase my collection in India for the first time, especially in my hometown Mumbai,” says Khan. Purnima Lamba, Lakmé, Head of Innovations, adds, “Khan’s show promises to be grand with his signature gowns and evening-wear that are synonymous with transnational glamour.” Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2013 will be held from March 22 to 26 at Grand Hyatt Hotel, Mumbai.
